There is no single pension amount applicable to every Egyptian lawyer in 2026. The Egyptian Bar Association confirmed payment of January 2026 pensions with the scheduled 5% annual increase, while individual amounts require checking the beneficiary’s file.
The Bar Association’s statement dated 6 July 2026 scheduled activation of the announced EGP 2,000 minimum and EGP 4,000 maximum monthly pension increase from 1 January 2027.
How Much Is a Lawyer’s Pension in Egypt in 2026?
The Bar pension cannot be reduced to one general figure for every beneficiary. The actual entitlement requires reviewing the pension file and applicable rules, rather than relying on a headline or a widely circulated amount.

What Do the EGP 2,000 and EGP 4,000 Figures Mean?
These figures represent the announced minimum and maximum under the new increase. The statement following the joint meeting of the General Bar Association and branch associations, published on 6 July 2026, set activation from January 2027.
An earlier announcement described the maximum calculation as EGP 100 for each year of actual legal practice, up to 40 years. Individual entitlement and the application of the rules remain matters for the Bar Association and its Pension Administration.
Who May Qualify for Retirement at the Statutory Age?
The Pension Administration page lists the following conditions for this retirement category:
- Registration on the practising lawyers’ roll.
- Twenty-five years of actual legal practice, continuous or otherwise.
- Reaching at least 60 years of age.
- Payment of the subscription due for the application year.

When and Where Can You Apply in October 2026?
On 29 September 2026, the Bar Association announced receipt of retirement applications from 1 to 31 October 2026 at the Lawyers’ River Club in Maadi, on the Maadi Corniche.
The announcement states daily reception from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with procedures completed at the same location. Confirm reception days and any later instructions with the association before travelling.
The Pension Administration page also describes submitting statutory-age retirement applications in October with a declaration closing the practice, with payments beginning in January under the relevant procedures and eligibility rules. Submission alone does not confirm approval or the pension amount.
Does the Pension Administration Handle Death and Total Disability?
The administration handles retirement at the statutory age, death and total disability. Eligibility and documents differ between these categories, so a retirement checklist should not be assumed to apply unchanged to death or disability claims.
Identify the application category when making an inquiry and request its document and procedure requirements before preparing the file.
